Two School for Cool

Happy second birthday to our bubby!!

Even though his birthday was on the 31st, I've been thinking about writing this post for a while now. It's amazing the love you feel for your first baby...you wait for him or her for what seems like forever and then you meet the little one and it's love at first sight. You wonder if you'll feel the same sense of awe and love for another...and then numero dos enters the world, and you realize you're absolutely smitten. It's as if you've never wondered all of those things, birds chirp, angels sing, the skies open and you stare at your little guy wondering how you could have not known there's been a boy in your belly for the last nine months. It's still how it is with Sam except for the belly part. I look at him in amazement. Now for something he's said (last night after seeing a bug in his room - "Bug! Go away! Don't get me!). You still look at him in wonder - but now it's scratching your head going, "how did he get that scrape exactly and since when did he learn to open juice boxes?". You still look at him with googly mommy's in love eyes - and then he tells you first thing in the morning - "Mommy. I POOPY! HA-HA." He's not poopy - just trying to throw mommy off her game at 6:45AM. And, yes he does go "HA-HA."

And, then there's the Alec Baldwin theory. You have senators or bank robbers. No in-between. It's one or the other. Those that follow the rules and enforce them and those that go hog wild. I totally buy this theory, by the way. I mean, think about some of the families you knew grewing up. I mean it applied to my family. I am sure you can't guess which one was me. There was always at least one of each. I think Sammy might be our little bank robber, but I'm okay with that as long as he continues to love his mommy.

In all seriousness, Sam is the most loving, cuddly little guy. Some fun Sam facts:

- He refers to himself as Sammy.
- He loves trains.
- He got in trouble for kissing an older woman on the playground this week. She was 3
- He likes to point out every car on the road when you're driving.
- His favorite foods are melon, gummy fruit snacks and chicken nuggets. He will request "sausage" the minute he walks in the door from school.
- He likes to watch Dora, Bubble Guppies and Thomas all while surrounded in the luxury of my bed.
- He now sleeps with four things: blankey, puppy, Poo Bear, pillow pet and Brobie(?) from Yo Gabba. PS, can you tell we're real creative with our animal names in this house?
- If he gets in trouble, he will sometimes start meowing or barking to deflect the situation. It works.
- He once wore pink sunglasses with rhinestones for an entire morning at school.
- At this 2 year appt, he weighed in at 30 lbs and was almost 36 inches. That would be put at just under 6' foot if the double your height at 2 pans out.

Sam rocking turquoise on his bday. Only a real toddler can pull that off.

Naturally he wiped out on the playground two days before his birthday.

This is how Sam rolls when he watches Dora and Boots.

Typical.

Playing ball. Everything is "baskey-ball."

Bridget's hammy down sunglasses...worn the preferred way.
